The Roaming Colt 3.0?

Image
I think  we're on our third attempt or so of garnering up some consistency with this whole Roaming Colt thing. Can I promise we won't see a 4.0 or a 5.0? No, but what I can promise is that 3.0 will be...worth the wait, I don't know. Boy I'm convincing you to stick around aren't I? Well, let's see, where do we begin? Probably from where we left off...      Last time you heard from this site was over three  years ago. Wow..how fitting for this to be TRC3.0. Anyway, three years ago it appears I attempted to transition this site into the website + a YouTube channel. Looking back on it all, I do wish I could have dedicated myself fully to that double-dose of travel storytelling, but the reality of it was, I think at that time, I had bitten off more than I could chew. Now unfortunately I cannot say I'm back in full force and ready to roll with the website & the YouTube channel again, but I would like to get back to do these things I'm passionate about

Wanderwhat?

Image
Wanderlust (noun ) - a strong desire to travel. It's a word countless travelers identify with. Personally, I don't care for the word "wanderlust" itself because it sounds a little too forced for my liking, but the fact of the matter is it is spot on with my feelings towards adventure. Whether at work, home, the gym, anywhere, I am always craving the next travel destination. The more I think about the word, the more I see it. "Wanderlust." You see it on posters, stickers, Twitter bios, everywhere. People even have it tattooed on them! So why the fascination with this identifying word? Is it to sound hip and cool, identify yourself amongst others, or to feel connected with those sharing your similar interests? When I think about the word wanderlust it puts me off. Instead of simply retaining this not-so-positive outlook towards a word that encompasses every aspect of what I'm so passionate about, I decided to do a bit of reflecting on this within mysel

The Return

Image
Hey everybody! After spending some time away from this site and going through yet another one of life's lovely transition periods, I'm happy to announce The Roaming Colt is back ! The beautiful thing about life is that we have no control and really no idea when something is going to change. Where we seem to fall is how we respond to these instances. I will be the first to admit, finding a happy medium or equilibrium for life is something I struggle with constantly. It's difficult to adapt and change to your environment or surroundings at times because when you've found a certain level of happiness we tend to instinctively grasp on to whatever it was that produced that happiness. The downfall here is that it may be something that no longer fits where we're at in our lives. This has very much been the case since my last entry to The Roaming Colt. A lot has changed since this winter, and I'm finally catching up with the changes, That being said, the result you

UPDATE: Headed North!!!

Image
Hey fellow travelers! It has been a busy few days to say the least! Lots of trips being planned and flights being booked..let's start with the soonest bit...big news coming from The Roaming Colt: One month from now I will be heading to Reykjavik, Iceland for a fun, wintry birthday weekend! Why Iceland you might ask? There are actually a couple of reasons why I'll be headed further  north for the winter. Now the way I attempt to travel is very spontaneous. I don't decide where  I want to go, but rather when  I can just go!  This way I am not limiting myself to specific destinations where travel prices might be higher than other locations. When I know I can take a trip I then just look to see what countries are inexpensive at that time. Although I was pursuing an adventure in Peru to visit Machu Picchu, this time it is Iceland instead! Lucky for me it just so happens to be during my birthday too, so that is yet another fun aspect to this particular trip. Accompanying m

New Life Plan

Indecisive. If this word could better describe anyone else on the face of this earth than yours truly, I would sure like to meet them. Whether it be my field of study in undergrad, my career path which has yet to be decided, or even where I choose to live, one thing seems to be consistent in my life and that is the consistency to be inconsistent. Call it being overly eager or too impatient, but I never have seemed to be able to settle down or remain content with whatever I'm doing. That's not to say I don't enjoy what I've done or where I'm at, but I'll admit to having the desire to go out and try new things. Andy Grammer said it best in one of his songs: "I was born with a compass in my hand and a restless soul" Much to my excitement, I think I have found my solution to this characteristic of mine. To the credit of my first ever international trip I took this past summer [you can read about it if you click this link: The (1st) Trip to Europe ], i

Let the Adventures Begin...

Welcome to The Roaming Colt blog site! I'd like to start off by thanking you for visiting this page! Whether on purpose or perhaps you just stumbled your way here, I hope you continue to keep up with all that is shared on this site. I figured it would be most appropriate for the first entry to be a little introduction from myself as well as what will be posted here. I am a recent college graduate (May 2016) and, like many young adults, I am still fairly undecided with what   exactly  I want to do for the rest of my life. It's a scary thought and an even scarier reality, so of course we don't want to make the mistake of choosing something we aren't absolutely passionate about. I have been a fairly indecisive person my entirely life to say the least, and I will be the first to admit that this particular trait of mine was troublesome when I was younger, but as the years pass by I have come to accept and even embrace that aspect of myself. In school, I changed majo
